It wasn't until I'd removed one of these plates from a previous bike that I saw the minute surface pitting due to its constant peppering with road grit that would have otherwise damaged my relatively soft alloy engine housing that I realised how effective this plate could be. Now I wouldn't be without its an extra layer of protection on all my bikes.
