On the positive side it’s smart, well made, does lower the seat height compared to the standard BMW seat (a bit…see below) and doesn’t have any of the edges that dig into your thighs that I associate with BMW low seats. On the downside, it’s expensive, it reduces the already limited leg-room so be ready to consider a peg lowering kit, the heating is less ‘toasty’ than the original, whilst it’s a lower seat, the difference in terms of reach to the ground is surprisingly little for me. I suspect that it’s because the standard seat is ‘squishy’ foam which compresses and this Wunderlich item is potentially wider and much firmer. Which brings me onto the biggest issue for me personally (we’re all built differntly, so this won’t apply to everyone)…I find this seat to be so firm that after 60 miles I want to get off and have a break. On a tour that’s a real issue, so this seat will be relegated to winter duties when rides are short and footing is more critical. I’ll be putting the standard seat back on for the summer. I bought this low seat hoping it would be better than the OEM BMW low seat as the overall opinion on the net was that it was a plank. I couldn't be more delighted from the height perspective it made my footing much better. I was worried because it is wider than the original I would not get it a low as I needed, that was not the case. I need not have worried it was perfect. I spent 11 days touring, it was incredible and the fact is it got more and more comfortable. We did 2500 miles and I got no real discomfort. Heating worked great and the low heat reflective material in 32 degrees was fantastic. Used its own heat travelling to Euro tunnel and it was also great. Would highly recommend for short riders. Also look of the seat was fantastic also, I was worried it wouldn't match.

This seat is far superior to the standard seat. This is the low seat option and extremely comfortable. The only down side is that I purchased the rear seat as well, however the trim does not match the rear seat as it has a different edging trim. the "Sharkskin" has a different design.
