Hand guard fitting issues Stuart Hood on Nov 26, 2023

Instructions absolutely useless , nothing to describe or show you how to fit these. Nor where to fit the rubber strip provided. I’m mechanically minded but it very much looks like I have a bracket which won’t fit the bike , one bracket seems to fit the guard But the other bracket the holes don’t line up to fit on the guard let alone fit the bike on RHS to replicate what’s on the LHS There is nothing to show you how to actually attach these to the handle bars taking into account the switch gear I’ve resorted to writing to NN to get some help 🤷‍♂️

Outstanding. Transforms the comfort on this bike. Only lack of protection on this bike are the open bars. This fixes this. Coupled with the heated grip all year riding is possible with non-waterproof summer gloves. Honestly it's the best part I've bought for the bike. No more hold knuckles in winter. Fiddly to install. Watch your alignment of your clutch and brake, always good to set there fitment to your body anyway.

Absolutely brilliant! The instructions were a bit suspect but once you worked it out they fitted perfectly

Really good quality hand guards that do an excellent job of deflecting the air. Easy to fit 👍

Un impressed with item as it caused a scratch to my tank when handle bars on full lock and didn’t appear to make any difference

A brilliant piece of kit. Instructions are not very good, but. It's not rocket science to fit the guards. Brilliant delivery by NN

These are an improvement over the ones I had for my 2014 GT which would not fit the 2018 model. The quality is very good but again let down by the very poor instructions. The bolts they tell you to use are the wrong size so you have to play trial and error. All of the bolts needed are included and also the spaces.

Fitting went well although another pair of hands is handy to hold the lever assemblies while getting the bolts back in. After a quick road test of the hand guards. Ambient temp around 9c/48f degrees, wearing my summer gloves which are ventilated and I didn't put the heated grips on. At speeds of up to 60mph there was little or no draught through the gloves and my hands felt ok, at 70mph (and upwards ) there was a noticeable but slight draught through the glove vents and my hands were beginning to feel the cold but nothing that wouldn't have been sorted out by using the grip heaters. With so little draught through my gloves I think the guards are moving a lot of air away from my hands and I guess if I was in the wet it would do the same for the rain. The only thing I noticed was that the right hand guard would vibrate more than the left when going over uneven surfaces and at speed, I put this down to the left hand guard bracket actually resting against the top of the clutch lever clamp (you are provided with some sticky back rubber to place between the clamp and the guard), whereas the right hand bracket is a few millimetres above the clamp and so doesn't have the same support as the left one. It should be sorted with a thicker bit of rubber between the two but would have been nice if it was supplied with some. First impressions? Very happy with them, they are very well made and easy to install and most importantly seem to do the job of guarding the hands and they don't look too bad on the bike either.
