Reviews of GiVi touring screen F800GT (clear)

Found screen to be very good. Rode yesterday, engine noise quieter and note of engine changed, little wind on my helmet, and none on my chest or hands as before. I made a careful inspection of my original screen after removing same with a Haynes Manual, and fitted the Givi with the supplied parts. The only addition I made was to cut out a thin rubber sheet (used bicycle inner tube actually !) to go between the screen and the side of the fairing where the hand extended part of the fairing goes. Cut to shape, pierced a hole for the single large screw (x 2) supplied, and looks fine and means the screen is cushioned against the body work at this point. Great screen. I note other comments re screen depending on riders size - I wear a Caberg Duke II, am 5' 8" tall and the bike has a comfort seat fitted. Did a round trip to see if wind direction made any difference.

Item arrived promptly, very well packaged and complete. I was replacing the original screen due to needing better wind/cold protection for my hands with hopes of a little less wind noise. I'm 6'3" (1.9m) tall and the original screen was aiming the wind straight to my mid-chest and shoulders area with mild buffeting. Hands were completely exposed. Managed to figure out (after a bit of head scratching) how to install it. Not too bad in the end, but definitely would've benefited with some instructions. However, a Haynes Manual would've done the job too as it's literally just a straight swap, but having knowledge of where and which screws to remove is handy. Have ridden the bike for a few hundred miles now in temps between 0 and 10 degrees, rain and sunshine. Anything below 5 or 6 degrees and you'll definitely still need the heated grips on cook setting, but the screen "wings" are far better and effective at deflecting the flow of air away from your hands. The flow is just over the cusp of the end of the handlebars, brilliant. I think, due to my height, it hasn't completely cured the wind on my body with the air flow now hitting my visor. No buffeting though! A smaller "extender" attached to the top of the screen will be needed. The screen is of good quality and a perfect fit, i.e. no need to bend, scrape, shout or swear when fitting it. I would suggest shorter riders would definitely benefit from the wind protection, at a guess, perhaps 6'0" or less.

It is a bitch to fit. It also needs to be a little taller for me as still a lot of wind on my helmet and noise ...plus side...little wind or rain on my body or hands..it is well made and looks good

Posted a review May 2019. An update 5 months and many kilometers later. Still think this screen is better than stock (and just about anything would be) but I still wasn't happy. I think it all comes down to your height. If I duck under the screen, its good, if I stand up on the pegs, great, but at 5'7" (170cm) I get helmet wind turbulence which is annoying. Tried extra height, a wind deflector and that helped, but it really spoils the look. Didn't want to return to the stock screen so I had 7" cut of (professional job) so that the top of the center section is slightly rounded and about level with the top of the side wings. What a difference, fantastic. Looks better, now have smooth air over the helmet and its much quieter. The later is a Schubert C3Pro and it's good provided the air stream isn't distorted. Conclusion: one size doesn't fit all.

Fitting was easy as long as you remove the two black inserts (3 screws each) AND the rear vision mirrors. Looks great (my opinion) and works better than the standard screen, but I still have minor turbulence on the top of the helmet. Find that I can have better intercom if I duck my head when I need to talk. I'm 5'7" (170cm) so shorter riders might be very happy, taller riders, maybe not. Tried the Madstad screen, both 18" & 22" Didn't like the look, especially the brackets which appear cheap for a BMW bike. Recommend the Givi screen but don't have unrealistic expectations.

Quick delivery as always, I think that there should be fitting instructions included, not just a list of parts. Not tried it out yet but looks like it should make a difference

I've already ridden out on the motorways with this screen fitted - what a difference - much less wind pressure on me, much quieter around my helmet - well worth the money. Givi really should provide some fittings instructions, though.

Excellent quality product, easy to fit and looks good on the bike. Used by three different riders on our blood bike and all three have fed back the same comments about the significant increase in wind noise/helmet vibrations. Riders from 5’8” to 6’00”. All three concluded the original screen was better. Was looking to replace all three f800’s with this screen but not now. I suspect an additional laminar device would cure the issues, and on a personal bike that would be the resolution. As the F800GT is shortly to be going out of production, this product is unlikely to be developed further.

Good bit of kit let down by lack of fitting instructions. It has been well engineered to fit theF800GT so why not include some fitting instructions? Also there is no Isle of Man in your dropdown country list so I have put it down as my town. NIPPY NOTE Pete We have spoken to GiVi about instructions Just choose UK instead of Isle of Man - that will be fine.

I tried the Madstad replacement screen and although it worked reasonably well, it was too far forward on the bike and didn't look too good. When I saw the Givi screen on a similar bike the looks alone sold the product to me. I bought and fitted it and in my opinion gave substantial more wind protection than the original and less sideways buffeting than the Madstad. Very easy to fit. Very pleased.

It is a great screen, this is my 2nd as a deranged cock pheasant smashed mine a couple on months ago! It was certainly easier to fit the 2nd time as there are no instructions, just a bag of fittings so you have to figure out what goes where yourself. One tip: When you are taking out your original screen note carefully where each screw type and length comes out of as it saves a mass of time and frustration on fitting the new screen!!

Excellent product, gives full wind protection from hips to head, no wind at all on the hands. Easy to fit and definitely worth the money. Tall riders may find a top extension useful.

Screen was straightforward to fit. Used some thick rubber washers to keep the ears away from the plastic fairing. Improves the look of the bike in my view. Performance wise, the screen has reduced general buffeting at speed to such an extent that travel at legal speed limits is a real joy. Service from Nippy was prompt with a perfect screen on arrival (had a problem screen from a competitor immediately prior).

Fitted this screen almost a year ago and rode in all weather conditions through the winter. Pros: reduces buffeting to body and to a lesser degree the hands. Not too ugly on the bike Cons: very fiddly to fit without instructions, does not reduce buffeting and wind noise to helmet - you can tuck low, however, the best result is if you raise your head by 20cms! Thought I had a noisy BMW Eve 6 helmet until I rode another bike, which was almost silent! Now looking for a screen extension.

Good quality product, easy to fit and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Reduces wind buffeting and deflects wind off hands also. Can recommend fully.

So far, so good. Fitted it a couple of weeks ago, which took longer than expected - partly due to the bike being new and not knowing what needed to be loosened or removed! It doesn't look out of place, despite being significantly larger than the standard screen. Not sure about the reduction in wind noise, as it's still present but it is easier to tuck below the screen to reduce it further. As others have said - instructions would have made the fitting far easier!!

Great quality product with all the extra (longer) screws & anti vibration washers needed, well packaged. No instructions, but with a bit of time and thought not too difficult to fit. Quite surprised I couldn't re-use the original AV mounts but that's no biggie. So far... EXCELLENT even at high speed cruising, so v.happy!

Well made with all fixings, works well, virtually no buffeting at motorway speeds. All original fixings used except for wings that fix to fairing, bolts supplied. rest is ( as instructions not supplied) bolt metal washer rubber washer, screen with metal spacer rubber washer. Job done

The screen came without fitting instructions and it was not that obvious where all the washers and replacement bolts were intended for. Once fitted it is an excellent screen which directs the airflow exactly over the riders head. Good in the wet but in heavy rain water flips up through the screen gaps at the side of the 'ears'. I am going to close them off on mine with screen beading.

An excellent windscreen upgrade. Feeling blown off the bike at motorway speeds. The GIVI windscreen fixes this, reducing noise, wind blast and keeping you dryer in the rain. It is very easy to fit, once you know how. The downside is that this info is missing. Look at the factory windscreen from the drivers position. Notice small left and right fairing panels more or less in line with the mirror clamps and extending from "tank" to windscreen. Remove the screws and wiggle these out and you can get to the other fixings for the factory windscreen and replace it with the GIVI. Use original screws where these are long enough through rubber washers in front and behind the GIVI screen. A little fiddly, but not bad. Good luck.

Good protection from wind for body and hands. There is no buffeting from the wind. It is easy to fit once you work out where all the washers go as there are no instructions.

Does the job very well and easy to fit, the fitting instructions could be better, had to go on the internet and find them to enable me to complete the fitting,. Happy though!!

An excellent screen, keeps you out of the wind and rain compared to the standard screen, gave it four stars because there was no fitting instructions and because you get a bag of bolts and various sized washers with the screen instructions would have been good.
