Reviews of GiVi touring screen - R1200RS, R1250RS (clear)

Great screen. Seat height on new bike higher than expected because of heated seats so old screen just not high enough. This one chucks the air up and around nicely making it so much quieter. It’s a HUGE screen! Usual quick delivery from NN along with a great price

Received well packaged screen the day after ordering, fitting took minutes and looks good on the bike, wind protection is brilliant and wind noise reduced significantly, highly recommended

Fit for purpose and effective particularly on highest setting. Patience required on fitting as does not fit as well as OE screen, although no modification required. Good value for money

Just what I needed, perfect height. However, the mounting holes did not match and a LOT of filing was needed. I expected better from Givi. NN SAYS Never had this problem before Roy - has your bike been midified?

I cant recommend this screen as the screw holes do not lineup correctly and it has damaged my bike. If you fit this screen on the low setting it rubs on the faring at the bottom of the screen

Great screen to replace the stock screen on the bike. As it is around 110mm larger than stockist gives greater protection from wind blast, and as it is clear, you hardly notice that it is there. Ordinarily, I would have gone for a tinted screen, but this was not an option for this screen, but I'm not bothered, as the clear one is better for the reasons stated above. Delivered quickly by Nippy Normans and fitted It tomy bike in minutes.

This screen is doing a great job at reducing wind blasting and rain hitting the visor. Quick and easy to fit too. We'll worth buying. A big thumbs up from me.

The screen was easy to fit using the oem fittings. I have the wunderlich Bar conversion as well as their handguards along with GS mirrors mounted on the bars so clearance is an issue for me. I used the lower screw holes and with the screen in the high position I get no buffeting and a very quiet ride. Only slight buffeting when following some traffic. I would have preferred the screen in a light tint but the price is a bargain. Very pleased as this is the fifth screen to date. I am 5'10" BTW. Also in this position there is no contact lock to lock with my setup.

Delivered fast and well packaged. No difficulties fitting - just put the 4 screws in part of the way to start off with. Then tighten all 4. I am 6 ft 1. This screen makes a huge difference. Much less buffeting and did 550 miles without needing to clean flies off visor. Noise inside helmet is much less too.

Givi touring screen. Another first class service from NNormans. The screen is fantastic for me. I’m 6ft & just changed bike from a RT to the R/S. The standard screen I found was useless. To much wind noise . The new screen is quiet & and keeps air flow off me when visor up. I would definitely recommend.

Great modification if you want to tour with less wind pressure and/or noise. The higher screen creates a bubble for me at 5'8" (1.72m). Can't ask for much more than that. Slight fiddle to fit, because the mount holes aren't bang on, but with slight (very slight!) bending it fits fine.

Superb. Fitted perfectly without all the problems others seem yo have encountertered. Maybe Givi have modified the design, but it was fitted literally in about 4-5 minutes. I had to flex the screen a bit to get holes to line up but no big deal. In terms of protection it is amazing. I fitted it to the lower holes on the bike and in the flipped up position I can ride with visor up, even today when it is 4 deg C! Flip the screen down and it looks pretty much like a medium sports screen and protection even in this position is massively improved. As for the 80mph limit, I well and truly debunked that myth! No vibration or wobble at all. Highly recommend to anyone.

Very pleased with screen. Fitted in the highest screw positions. Highest setting means I am partially looking through and over screen, not sure about satisfactory visibility. Also by reducing wind noise it seems to attenuate road/engine noise. Regarding fitting be very careful not to insert screws cross threaded as they do not fit as good as they did with the original screen.

Very nice screen, little tricky to start all screws due to alignment but overall worked much better than stock and the smoked wunderlich I have. Nippy Normans service and postal costs are exellent

Whilst I can't fault the quality of the materials used in its manufacture, I cannot understand why Givi are unable to set the screw holes more accurately. I was aware of this minor fault from other R12100RS owners beforehand and kind of expected to have to enlarge each one. This will probably invalidate any guarantee if there is a subsequent problem but the risk is hopefully worth it.

Excellent screen. Set up at the highest position it stops the wind noise very well. I am 1.81 (5.11 or 6ft circa) and the screen is very effective for someone of my height. (I noticed comments that the screen should not be used over 130 km/h but that is not what it says in Italian. It's a standard note to say that with any big screen going over a certain speed could be dangerous if the wind catches the screen.) Excellent product, highly recommended for the RS. Givi quality is always five stars

The screen is good - thick and strong enough. Good wind protection and quiet in the highest position, Pretty easy to fit - lining up the bolts required a bit of effort but not too bad.

Big screen, big improvement Steve Hackett on Oct 12, 2019

This is a big screen! Only rated to 130kph (83mph). Fitted OK without problems to lower holes. At 6ft tall I find oem screen has wind at chest but this Givi one moves it up to visor when screen down which can be a bit annoying if riding with visor open. Airflow hits top of helmet when screen is up. My helmet has a top vent which is directly in airflow so noisier. Dipping head down slightly gives complete quiet and no wind blast. Not tried higher hole mount but should give absolute quiet but a little worried about rigidity at high speed as it has a large surface area, hence speed rating. The extra width gives good hand protection but the higher the screen the less the benefit. When first fitted it coincided with a really hot spell but there was still sufficient airflow to keep cool. Screen comes with warning to park concave side to sun to prevent concentrating heat on bike. My preference is to ride with screen down except in rain. My height allows me to look over screen, not through it, when up or down. Overall an effective screen, competitively priced. Only downside is its appearance on the bike but that's a small price to pay for a warm, dry ride.

The two lower mounting screen holes did not align with the holes on the bike. I drilled them both to increase the hole size by 1mm which was sufficient to allow the screen to fit. NIPPY NORMANS SAYS This would be the same time ever that we have heard of a Givi screen needing to be drilled.

Touring screen - how to choose? John Bingham on Nov 08, 2018

Having changed from an RT to an RS (standard seat height) and being 6ft 2.5ins tall I needed to reduce the wind noise. Like helmets, you never know which is best until you have bought and tried it. I decided to buy the GiVi touring screen. I am very pleased with it and have summarised my findings to help others: 1. Fitted OK though had to pull quite hard to get the final hole to line up. Be careful not to cross thread the bolt. 2. Fitted to the top holes. 3. Still some noise at 40mph with screen down but quieter than standard. With screen up, no noise at 40mph, noise at 60mph same as at 40 mph with screen down - so big improvement (at least 20mph). 7. At 70mph, screen up, really quiet - just like the RT used to be. Flick it down at 70 and noisy. 8. Conclusion - great improvement - reduction obviously depends on your head height but this screen in the top holes and up is a great improvement. Yet to try in rain but I suspect at speed the rain will also go over the top and not hit the helmet and visor. Looks smart. Very satisfied. Good price from Nippy Norman compared with other makes.

Like most I had trouble with the stock screen. The noise was too much. Had tried another brand better but not great. Finally I purchased this well packed and quick delivery from nippy. The screen is big but looks good on the bike and I can see over it At 5'11 . on low setting is was a good improve when I put it on high setting it was total quiet from wind noise. When trying to fit it into the higher fixings the one hole doesn't line up so I did take a drill bit to adjust it now it fits and I'm very happy with it

Bit tricky to get the holes aligned, but once fitted the screen works really well. I'm 6ft 2in and with the screen fitted to the lower mounting holes and set to the higher position there's no buffeting and greatly improved protection from rain and lorry spray.

My R1200RS is my daily ride in all weathers. Fitted screen and although it only fits in lower bolting position, screen can be adjusted between high and low. I'm 5' 8" and with a Shoei NXR helmet, I find the lower position the most effective. Neither I nor helmet catch much winter crud and fairly quiet too. NB. When screen is wet especially in very low light conditions or grubby, the higher screen position makes filtering a hazardous affair, as you're trying to look through the obscured screen.

Was worried after I ordered that fitting it would be a problem given some reports that the holes didn't line up. Laying it over the stock screen, it didn't look like it would fit but I decided to try it anyway. After transferring the grommets etc. from the stock screen, it did slot into the lower bolt holes. Rode for six hours in the pouring rain in 4C temps and was thankful every minute for the extra protection. Nobody was dry but way better than the stock screen!

Screen is exactly what is needed on the RS. I mounted mine using the lower set of fixing holes.and In high position, everything is quiet with a slight increase in buffeting from wind gusts at speed. My screen had fixing holes not quite correctly spaced. This could be a one off and NN offered to refund. I modified hole size to fit. and now no problem.

Very pleased with this screen - thick, clear plastic and 5 minutes to fit in the existing mounts. I ride all year and the standard screen guides the weather directly onto my visor which gets it dirty quickly and makes the ride noisy. This screen makes a massive difference. It's not quite the same size and that on a standard RT but not far off and when mounted in the lower position, still manages to suit the styling of the bike. In the upright position, I'm sitting in a cocoon of my own mustiness (good or bad depending how you look at it I guess) with noise levels reduced and everything much calmer. I'm 1.81 m (6 foot in old money) and whilst I will change the screen back for the better weather, this was a great buy for the winter months.
