Reviews of XT 3DAM Garmin XT mount horizontal with lock to fit in Nav V/VI cradle

Second unit Henry Treadwell on Feb 23, 2026

Rating: 5

Review: Reliable Performance with a Learning Curve Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is my second 3DAM mount for the Garmin Zumo XT. Overall, I’m very happy with the product, but there are a few things to keep in mind for longevity: Durability: My first unit provided very reliable service for about 10,000 miles. After that, I noticed intermittent power drops, and it eventually failed completely at the 14,000-mile mark. The "Slider" Secret: Looking back, I likely wasn't sliding the securing mechanism across fully. On my new unit, I’m making sure the slider is properly engaged every time. It holds the Zumo significantly more securely and should prevent the power pins from wearing out prematurely. Security Note: One observation is that even when the device is "locked," it remains relatively easy to remove the unit without using the key. It’s a great mount for stability, but I wouldn't leave the GPS unattended in high-risk areas. Summary: A great piece of kit that performs well if you ensure the manual slider is fully engaged. Hoping to get even more miles out of this second one!
