One of the first purchases for my new GS1250. Had fender extender's fitted to my previous bikes, as they help with keeping dirt etc spraying the front engine cover, exhaust headers to a minimum.

I was looking for a fender extender that is not only good at keeping the muck off the front of the engine but also easy to fit (I'm a klutz, guaranteed to drop everything). Well this fits the bill 100%. Clean the mudguard, put on the protective film (the only fiddly bit), push the extender on, put on the clips and tighten them. 10 minutes with no swearing required.
Because I haven't tested a whole range of fender extenders (I'd rather be riding my bike) I can't say whether this one performs better than all the others. But I have been out and done about 300 miles on filthy roads, a lot of them with copious amounts of mud and I think that the only muck has now been on the bashplate instead of the front of the engine.

Ho già montato stesso prodotto su una bmw 1200 rt lc e sono rimasto molto soddisfatto per qualità e estetica prodotto, stesse opinioni per quello montato su gs adv 1250 tranne impreciso accoppiamento tra parafango moto e prolunga rimangono due fessure dai lati prolunga sebbene sia inserito a fine corsa, si vede tale imprecisione anche nel video che spiega il montaggio, si notano parecchio perché passa la luce.

I selected this product because it does not require to perforate the original fender.
It is easy to mount, to me it integrates nicely with the original fender and does not look too weird and, it really protects the motor-block (I would say about 90-95%, there is still some dirt that manages to pass the extender).
Not yet tested on long rides, as it is currently quite could here in south Germany.

As recommended by teapotone this extender is very easy to fit, looks great and does it's job. I have used it in the rain and on gravel paths and does a much better job protecting the bottom of the bike and engine casing than the original. It does not damage any existing parts and can be removed if required. I would thoroughly recommend this and you wonder why BMW does not offer such an extender itself?

I really like the design of this extender. It looks like it is a factory fitted part - maybe it should be as GSs really make a mess of themselves when it rains and this extender really reduces the the splattering of the engine. It is a lot wider than it looks due to the clever design and it was very easy to fit. I particularly like the way it blends together with the rear tip of the mudguard - it is a work of art, a bit ridiculous to say about a piece of plastic, but it is. It could be said that it is expensive compared to other extenders on the market, but class costs. I would definitely recommend it.

Why don't manufactures make front fenders longer ? Having purchased 7 for previouse bikes I thought this was a bit expensive but bit the bullet, Ordered on a Tuesday, arrived Friday brilliant service. On opening liked what I saw, the moulding was good and the small clips were not the old metal plate things as in the past, these were chunky alloy machined, fitted in 5 mins and looks like BMW should have modeled the fender in the first place, Mervyn.

Very easy to fit. I agree with those who have queried how tight to do the two screws up. Even fully tightened, the thing is only held on by a very small width of plastic. I may try to find a way to fit an extra screw somewhere central, just in case.

Fits easily. Only concern is how tight to do the screws. The YouTube link says to really tighten them hard, but I felt like the threads would stripquite easily once I started to tighten them. As for protection for the engine from crud etc, time will tel and I will update the reviewl.

Another excellent extension to the front mud-guard ('fender') to keep the main engine casing cleaner and to reduce damage from stone chips. This product by Avant is a quality piece of plastic secured via two bolts that clip the inside of the existing mug-guard. It is extremely easy to fit and is both far more robust and better secured than those fixed by double-sided tape or glue. It looks good and is clearly well designed and produced. Highly recommended.

Wasn't sure about fitting this initially but decided to give it a go. Very easy to fit in around 10 minutes. It certainly protects the front casing and surrounding area from most of the debris that comes off the front wheel and makes cleaning that much easier. Looks OK too.

Sounds a little pricy for what it is, a bit of plastic, but when you come to fitting it you see just how well made it is. No drilling, not even a mark on your original fender. And it is held very secure. I fitted mine on a Friday before doing the Hardknott pass on the Sunday, and on the way back I had to wade through a flooded road 500 mm deep, I was concerned as to how the fender extender would fare, but it was solid as a rock.

The fender extender is really good and does its job. The main point for me was the possibility to install it without drilling holes in the OEM fender. I had one trouble nevertheless. One of the nuts separated from its brackets when I was tightening it up and therefore it was not possible to make it tighter anymore since it was spinning with the screw instead of being stopped by the bracket. I had to dissasemble the fender again and try to put the nut into the bracket again. This resulted to be really tricky, at least with the tools that I had availble. I finally manage to do so, but maybe it would not be a bad idea to improve the way the nuts are attached to the brackets. I am sure that this will happen to other customers.

The front fender extension is very useful. Installation takes a few minutes only. I tried the extension on a wet off road ride. The bike remained almost totally spotless in the front and there were no lose stones projected against the exhaust. I am glad I installed this.

Nice addition to the GS.
The standard / factory front mudguard is too short, maybe the factory tests are only done in fair weather!?!? For those of us riding in the real world here in UK, a longer mudguard is needed to prevent the front of the engine being covered in road muck. This item is easy to fit and looks good . Does the job of keeping most of the spray away from the engine. So well worth it for anyone who rides their bike in less than ideal conditions.

Really easy to fit and looks great on the bike as it blends well with the styling. Also the type of plastic used matches the OE mudguard plastic so it doesn't look out of place. Only 4 stars because it doesn't stop ALL the dirt from spraying up, but it does catch the majority of it.

Seems expensive but very well made, blends in with the bike perfectly. Fits in seconds and even uses the same Torx head set screws as the bikes fairing panels, so all you need to fit it is the BMW Torx driver which is under the passenger seat.

Very easy to fit, a video on the website shows you how in addition to the clear instructions. Well made and extends far enough down to keep the front of the engine cleaner. Just make sure you have a Torx driver for the screws

I have had the fender extender fitted a month now. The wider design seems to keep more of the muck off the bike. The chunky design works well with the bike and it can be used with the touring crud catcher.

Easy to fit with no holes drilled in the OE mudguard, this is what BM should fit in the factory Get one before you go through the first winter salts, not after. Solid plastic, not skimped and it looks 'factory'. I'm on the alert list for a rear mudsling for the GS LC to protect the rear end too.

Excellent product, don’t hesitate to fit one. This makes a big difference in keeping your engine clean and helps prevent stone chips occurring. Any water or debris gets guided under the bike with this in place. Also worth mentioning that it takes about 2 minutes to fit.
