GOOD SCREEN Ian G on Mar 23, 2022

I bought this screen several years ago to replace the standard BMW screen which does not offer much protection and is noisy. I liked it so much I moved it from my previous R1200GS to the new R1250GS. Pros. Protection is much better than the standard screen. I can ride visor up at the legal speed limit (with glasses to protect against the odd insect/debris). It is fairly quiet and the design matches the bike. Cons. Fitting is not straight forward. The OEM mounts do not fit and I used a selection of 'O' rings to avoid drilling the screen. It needs a brace - it wobbles on the standard BMW screen mounts. I give it 4 stars because it is not as good as a Madstad I had on a Tiger 800 (as per Nathan Eason). Unfortunately the Madstad for a 1200GS looks a bit strange.

I really like this screen - this is my second one - had a tip of the bike and cracked the first one Much improved wind and rain protection over stock screen I’m 6 foot tall. Stock screen gives limited wind protection for my liking Fairly easy to fit and support bracket really helps to reduce screen wobble

Good improvement in helmet stability. I am 6 feet tall and original screen is too short. Well worth money.

having looked at all the screens for my recently purchased GS I went for the GiVi as it looked similar to the original and the reviews given. It was really fiddly to remove the original screen and likewise to fit the GiVi. I to found the holes the wrong size on the GiVi and first cut down the rubber washers from the original screen, waste of time as found that the rubber washers were not required. The new screen fits perfect with the screws provided. I did not use the brackets provided, and returned the cymarc strengthening bracket as this was also not required. I am 6' 4'' with the seat on the lowest setting and find this screen sooo much better than the original screen, less noise and can have visor/flip up. I have used the screen at speed and have noticed that the screen is very stable on the original brackets. Perfect

Probably the best high screen I have fitted to a GS and I have had 11 GS bikes since 2002. It is well made and very thick when compared to powerbronze for example. Fitting is a little tricky as the instructions are the better and the mounting holes are small so it hard to get the OE mount to fit. On the road its great no noise or buffeting.

I am 6ft 3in and the standard screen just doesn't work for me at all, with lots of buffeting and windnoise. I had a Madstad on my previous bike, a Tiger 800XC, and it worked really well and basically eliminated buffeting completely and reduced wind noise to very low levels. . This Givi screen is equally as good at less than half the price. It is a quality item and looks good as well. The supporting bracket supplied to prevent wobble at speed and over rough terrain works as well. I thought I'd have to get a set of Cymarc supports but there's no need. If you use your GS off-road a lot it may be worth investing in a set but for normal road use there is no need (IMHO). I am able to ride visor up at motorway speeds with no problems. My helmet is an Arai Axes 2 and the budget end of the range. There is one niggle: the mounting holes in the Givi are too small to fit the OEM screen support. I only wanted to drill as a last resort so initially tried to cut the OEM washers down but it didn't work. Eventually my mate came up with the idea of using black silicone sealant. Worked a treat and the excess simply rubbed off.

Screen looks nice and well made. Simple to fit other than the 4 holes for the fixing bolts are not large enough for the original screen fixing grommets to be reused. If you do not use them the screen rattles on the fixings, had to drill out each hole to accept the old grommets and then the screen fits perfectly.

I am very happy with this purchase. Buffeting and wind noise are reduced.

Good product. Easy to fit. Looks nice at the GS too. Less wind on helmet and body.

A huge improvement on the original screen. No more helmet buffeting and deafening wind noise. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is the mounting holes are smaller than in the BMW screen so the original grommets can't be used. I got around this by using O seals from a Karcher pressure asher maintenance kit I had in the garage.

I bought this screen because I was getting a lot of buffeting and bugs in the face with the original factory screen. This screen is *so* much better! Virtually no buffeting and I can ride most of the time with visor up if I want (I'm 6'1"). Fitting is a doddle - it's a straight replacement for the original. I agree with other reviews that it can only be adjusted *upwards* at low speed, but it's not much worse than the original in that respect. If I had a criticism it would be that it feels a little wobbly, but in fact when you're moving and there is pressure on it it doesn't move around. I've done 2000 miles with it and I'm very pleased with it. And at this price it's a steal!!

Great product, I'm 6'2 , just done a 240 mile ride with my visor up , deflected wind brilliantly

After much of research and reading, I decided to order this screen to give me extra protection during winter. I am 6'4" and this screen is PERFECT. Gives me a full head protection and with setting it up in the middle hight position, it provides needed breeze. No buffeting at all. For summer I have MRA tinted screen, which is great in the warmer weather, but leaves much of my broad shoulders exposed to wind.

Excellent product, good quality and improves wind deflection over standard screen. Bit fiddly getting the lower mounting bolts in especially the off side one but managed eventually.

Very pleased with the result. I'm 6'1" and have the seat in the highest setting. Fitted easily and also installed the Cymark brackets at the same time. With screen in the highest position, I rode 100 miles yesterday with my visor open the entire time, something I've never been able to do on any of my bikes so far. Great product but I do recommend getting the additional brackets which make a difference too.

This screen provides quite a lot more wind and weather protection than the standard 1200GS LC screen. Its a bit wider and a bit taller. When fully wound down, you can still easily see over the top of the screen. When fully wound up, it prevents head buffeting on high speed roads like motorways and dual carriageways. Overall its a very good product. And just makes the LC that little bit more versatile / distance-friendly

This Givi screen is the one that's sorted the turbulence problem for me on my LC. Standard screen is terrible, Nippy Normans version (which I tried first off) is better but still left me with buffeting unless I ducked a little. The Givi screen is not significantly larger but the the 'V' notch is filled in and it's this that makes the important difference. Quality is good with good edge finishing and clearer optics. I am 6'2"

I am 6'1". I tried the adventure screen which is slightly larger than the standard one, but this didn't resolve the buffeting issue I was having. The Givi screen is much better. I can now ride at 80mph with my visor up if I want and there is no buffeting at all. Much quieter for the pillion as well. One minor point, you have to make sure you adjust the height before you go onto a motorway as the wind pressure on the screen makes the adjustment very hard above 60mph approx. I would definitely recommend it

I'm 6'4" and have the Givi highflow screen on my 2014 R1200GS LC. It's MUCH better than the stock one and has made my ride much quieter, with much less wind, bugs and rain on my visor. I'd recommend it for other tall riders like me.
