Reviews of Wunderlich rider footpeg lowering - R1200R (to 2014), R NINE T (to 2016)

Long Leg problem solved Steve on Dec 13, 2022

Being a bit long in the leg, I decided to lower the pegs on my much loved BMW. No better place to look than Nippy Normans, who supplied just what i needed, a Wunderlich footpeg lowering kit. Now I can blast off into Europe in the new year in comfort. See you there.

Excellent product, makes a real difference to my leg comfort and with the bar riser blocks it transforms the ride comfort over longer journeys, the price is a bit steep but other than that i highly recommend.

Great product and good service from Nippy Normans. Very quick and easy to fit, provided you cable tie the foot rests out of the way (20 mins to install). I'm 6'3" and tour abroad on my bike and whilst the change in peg height might not seem like a lot, it really does make a positive difference. The only negative comment is the price. It's far too expensive but that's Wunderlich for you.

This is a piece of high quality kit, beautifully machined with a finish that blends naturally with the framework of the bike. Once fitted only a second glance from a familiar eye would spot it. As others have stated, the pegs are lowered by about 3/4” and on my bike the brake pipe also eased into the ever so slightly different position easily. I chose not to use the accessory provided. The gear lever required adjusting by one spline only. I did not notice the different height setting at all but this is all about comfort over longer distances. I am 6’3” and I would experience the cramp in the hips/top of the thighs, that others have reported, at various times beyond about 100 miles but they’ve not appeared yet, so although not an empirically sound review in that regard, I’m saying, ‘so far, so good’.

Easy modification JJ. on Feb 22, 2018

Worthwhile & easy modification for taller R9T riders (6' tall & 32" inside leg rider) suffering long distance leg cramps. Simple bit of mechanicing as long as you have torx bits handy. As per the earlier reviewer's tip (thanks) for the gear side, I fitted lowering kit & rotated the gear lever by one spline. Fitted the brake side bracket but didn't fit the brake line extension as I re-arranged the clips on the hoses and rotated the reservoir a smidge to gain a bit of play on the hoses, hopefully that will do the trick but will keep an eye to it all the same. Also did not need to alter brake lever plunger pre-set. These brackets are well made & designed to blend in & not to look like an obvious add-on - although at £136.00, they're not particularly cheap either. The riding position is much improved since fitting the footpeg lowering kit, more relaxed & not so scrunched. Fast delivery from NN - good modification. Many thanks

Easy to fit for someone with basic skills. You have the option of the brake line extension which I did use. The method described in the info on altering the gear lever position was not used. I found by taking off the gear lever and moving it one spline it was exactly correct. You need a blue thread lock for a proper job. The parts are well made and look good. This mod provided more leg room and with the handle bar riser has made the bike perfect for me. Rider 6. 0" inside leg 32"

They only lower the pegs by a small amount but together with the Wunderlich bar risers, they make the riding position more comfortable and less cramped.

Amazing difference - transforms the riding experience! Lee on Sep 18, 2016

I ordered this peg lowering kit because I'm 6'2", and after riding the bike for more than about an hour was beginning to get cramps in my hips, and the bike just didn't feel "right" - too much buffeting at high speed and difficult to steer The parts arrived very quickly after ordering. Fitting was easy, it took me about 30 minutes after I found the correct T40 bit for my torque wrench. Use the bolts that come with the kit, they're much shinier and feel harder wearing than the BMW bolts, which have a tendency to start chewing up the torx head The difference riding the bike after fitting them is amazing. It now feels a lot more like I'm part of the bike, rather than just perched on top of it. I also have the Puig flyscreen and the Nippy Normans handlebar risers, and now everything just... works. My head is now in the correct position so that the air flows off the screen and around my helmet, instead of into my neck/shoulders - much less buffeting. My hands are now at the correct level for the bars... and riding this machine is now a pleasure, even at speed If you're more than 6 foot tall, then you need these for your R9T, the difference really is like night and day. So glad I bought this!

Quality item, easy to fit, massive improvement for touring, does not seem to affect cornering (lean angle )
