Bucket of soapy water; sponge; rag; garden hose... the usual way I'd clean the bike(s) over the years. However as bikes have (slowly) evolved there are more and more nooks and crannies designed to catch and retain crud off the roads. I hope the designers tweak things to improve our motorcycles, but think most have little thought about keeping our machines clean in the real world.
This selection of brushes is not the panacea but its certainly helps, giving a selection of reasonably well made brushes and such like, to get into most hard to reach, dirt retaining, areas on the modern motorcycle. Which cleaning tool has been designed for which area to be cleaned is really up to the user other than common sense dictating the wire brush should not be used on easily scratches surfaces.
The motorcycle salesperson will extols the virtues of your machine, telling you it will circumnavigate the world yet come to trade it in and it will be a high mileage, low value machine. Nevertheless in the intervening period, keeping the machine clean and looking after it in general, will ensure it gives you a lengthy period of enjoyment and will make riding and looking after the machine, a joy. Keep it clean and well maintained.

“Exactly as it says on the tin” NOT. When you order an 11 piece brush kit, you expect an 11 piece brush kit, not a 10 piece brush kit and a net bag that decides to identify as part of a brush kit. Honesty goes a long way. I’d have preferred to buy a 10 piece kit with a carry net.

Used a couple of times now & these brushes are great for getting winter grime off the bike. There’s an assortment of brush sizes to get in all the nooks & crannies especially between the fins on the cylinder barrels. Some of the detailing brushes seem a bit stiff to me & could scratch paint but should be ok on polished metal. Haven’t used those.
